IT'S A NEW WORLD
In the old days, self-publishing meant "vanity press." Using a vanity press implied that you weren't good enough to be published by a trade publisher. That's not necessarily true anymore. Just ask my 87-year-old client Harry, author of both self-published and trade-published works, who simply prefers not to send out query letters for the next decade before the next book in his series goes to print.
